Who Are We
Welcome to the home of BlockBlueMedia, a brain child of Noah Gilbert. My intention was to create a technology blog where I can post some articles about cool technology, and while learning about different items, inform the internet and potentially educate/inspire some people along the way.
Disclaimer
I (Noah Gilbert), as the main person hosting BlockBlueMedia, am currently working for Amazon Web Services as my main job. I feel it best to make this crystal clear at the start with this disclaimer about any cloud content I publish through our content. All opinions/articles/content produced/referred to by either BlockBlueMedia or me, are our opinions/experience only and not manipulated/sponsored/paid/edited by either Amazon or any company in any way.
We do intent for this to stay the same with any other people that publish content for us, or in the future for any sponsored content.
Also, anything that we say regarding AWS (specifically but not exclusively) is general in nature and all public information only (we are also not AWS Partners, nor should you completely trust our material as we do make mistakes sometimes. So, please do your own research/reading into anything we cover in these posts).
Where we go in depth about AWS services, we use our own experience as an AWS external customer, also, this also goes for any cloud platform we cover. We host all of our pages/content outside of anything internal to any company, and they aren’t utilizing any special items/services at all.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on this site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the user’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection on our site.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. This is to generate an avatar that can be used for when you comment on pages.
As we do use the Gravatar service, when you make a comment on any page, you also agree to their privacy policy, which is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comments.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Please don’t upload any media that violates the terms/agreement of another company or person, as we can’t monitor for that (unless it is brought to our attention). Also, if this is brought to our attention (via contacting our support team), we will take swift action to investigate and if necessary, ask that it be taken down or do it ourselves (if required by law enforcement).
Please be respectful when uploading any media, and please refrain from any obscene/offensive/discriminating/graphic/homophobic/defamatory material (I don’t want to have to police this, but will do so if necessary). Any abuse of the above rule, will be barred from commenting/posting comments and if necessary, banning you from the site and also banning any participation/viewing of BBM content on any platform we upload to.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Embedded Content
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.) from platforms that we upload to/link to. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website, and we intend to be upfront on that.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
While we take care to review the privacy policy of the websites we link to, please note that you watching/interacting with that content, means that you agree to that company’s privacy policy and data collection.
Data Sharing
If you request a password reset from our site, your IP address will be included in the reset email. This is set by WordPress (the hosting platform for our website).
Harassment/Spam
While we do collect your email address when creating your account, we don’t collect it for the distribution of any spam material. Nor will we ever request financial details and data not disclosed in this privacy policy through any emails/phone calls or text messages or any other form of content (unless authorized by us through approved areas like streaming donations and merch sales).
If you see an unsolicited communication (Email, Phone, or Text) from anyone claiming to be BBM Staff and asking regarding unpaid bills, asking for financial information, asking you to purchase gift cards for payment; please forward that onto us at the abuse email at the bottom of the page and delete it on your end.
BlockBlueMedia will never call/text asking for financial/personal/legal information at any time
If such a call/text is received by you claiming to be from BlockBlueMedia and asking for that information, please hang up immediately, report it to our abuse email below and most importantly: Never hand over your information.
We take these items seriously and will attempt to investigate what happened and to try to find any resolution to preventing it from happening in the future.
Only emails/content from our domains (blockbluemedia.com, bbmgames.com and bbmg.tech) are controlled by us and are the official links for our site/content (unless through our authorized providers like Twitch, YouTube, Streamlabs) and you should be suspicious if the link/domain doesn’t match these exactly.
Retention of Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information but will only be accessed if necessary for abuse tickets or if required for law enforcement/court orders, and we take pride to not abuse that right.
Data Rights
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.
You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
You can utilize the support email below to request these actions, and we will review them and work with you to ensure that those are completed for you.
Merch Store – https://merch.blockbluemedia.com
For our merch, we partnered with Streamlabs for our distribution and selling of our branded merch. All items on there are sold at cost (as we believe in this merch being comfortable, and by you supporting us by wearing/using them, and not profiting of them).
Whenever you buy merch through the store, you also agree to the Streamlabs Privacy Policy as well. The only information that BBM collects outside Streamlabs collecting the merch sales (in accordance with their Privacy Policy) is the username and purchase items to be used for merch messages on the BBM Twitch Channel as alerts.
Data Transmission
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. This is again managed through WordPress, but if you would like further information, please ask us through the below support links, and we can try to answer them for you.
